Kiewit contacted ACQUIP to ascertain the vertical alignment of eleven vertical pumps at the world’s largest pump station in New Orleans, LA. None of the pumps could operate for an extended period of time. At least eight of the pumps had to be operating in 33 days.
ACQUIP Alignment Engineers were on site the same day to assess the situation. We quickly adapted our current bracketing to access the large location bores of the vertical pumps. In addition we designed and manufactured additional bracketing specific to the application. We called in added resources to staff the project 24 hours a day and provide up to the minute updates on progress and support needs.
ACQUIP quickly and accurately performed the pump alignment of the bores so the pumps could be reinstalled within specification. Eight of the pumps were operating 5 days before the deadline. The pump station was running on time to prevent the city from flooding in the event of a hurricane.
